Manchester City, also known as “The Citizens” was founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton), changing its name to Gorton Association F.C. in 1884 and finally becoming simply Manchester City FC in 1902. The Etihad Stadium

The Etihad Stadium is home to Manchester City. It has been their home since the end of the 2003-04 football season, when the club moved from Maine Road. The stadium is named after its current owner and sponsor, Etihad Airways. The Manchester City stadium is one of the largest in the Premier League with a capacity of 54,000 people. The first match at the Etihad stadium was a friendly between Manchester City and FC Barcelona on the 10th of August 2003. City won the game 2–1, with Anelka scoring the first ever goal at the Manchester City stadium.
