Manchester City Club Information
Manchester City, also known as “The Citizens” was founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton), changing its name to Gorton Association F.C. in 1884 and finally becoming simply Manchester City FC in 1902. The club had its first major period of success in the late 1960s, winning the League, European Cup Winners Cup, FA Cup and League Cup under the management of Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison.
With First Division/Premier League titles, FA Cups, League Cups and one Cup Winners’ Cup, City stand tall as one of the most successful English football clubs of all time.
The most memorable League title will be the 2012/2013 season title. A day that will live long in the memory of Man City fans. At the time of 93:20 all Citizens held their breath for the strike of Aguero. The iconic goal made City win the Premier League and turn Manchester blue again. The moment 93:20 even got their own documentary and a lounge at the Etihad Stadium was named after this precious moment.
