      Juventus football club

Juventus is a professional football club based in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, they compete in the Serie A. The club was founded in 1897 by a group of Turin students and the club have played in their traditional black and white striped uniforms since 1903.

The Italian word Juventus means “youth”. The club also goes by several nicknames in its native Italy: “The Old Lady”, “The Girlfriend of Italy”, “Madam”, “The White-Blacks”, “The Zebras” and even “Hunchback.”

Juventus have managed to spend most of its history in the Serie A, with the notable exception being the 2006-07 season. Due to the Calciopoli scandal, Juventus’s two scudettos concerning 2005 and 2006 were revoked and the team were sent down to Serie B. Despite a nine point reduction, Juventus bounced back to Serie A and were soon a dominant force in the top-flight again.

      Juventus Rivalry

Rivalry games in any sport attract attention, even from neutral teams. The most notable Italian football rivalries are watched eagerly by neutrals and fanatical fans alike.

The matchup between Juventus and Inter is perhaps the most intense match in Italy between two teams from different cities, it has been named derby d’Italia and started over half a century ago.

The Derby della Mole pits is the more internationally known, where Juventus face off against city rivals Torino. In recent years, Juventus has dominated proceedings on the pitch, thus making this less of a rivalry in footballing terms.

      Juventus Stadium

Allianz Stadium, previously known as Juventus Stadium, replaced Juventus’s old Stadio Delle Alpi, which had only been the home of the club since 1990. Allianz Stadium was opened at the start of the 2011–12 season and with a capacity of 41,507, is the sixth largest football stadium in Italy.

Juventus Stadium hosted the 2014 Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica, which ended in a 0-0 draw and was won on penalties by the Spanish side.

Fun fact: Juventus only lost three of their first 100 league matches at the Juventus Stadium.
